Designing for the modern developer ecosystem. For Optimeist—a B2B FinOps platform that automates cloud compute optimization—I led the end-to-end product design from early system logic to our public-facing release. Partnering directly with our CTO and platform architects, I translated complex cloud telemetry, execution metrics, and automated algorithms into an intuitive, high-density dashboard experience. By balancing developer-first workflows with absolute control, the platform empowers engineering teams to eliminate manual resource provisioning, automatically slashing cloud spending in the background while keeping serverless applications running at peak performance.

Developers are notoriously hostile toward complex setup wizards and clunky onboarding flows. If integrating a new developer tool requires hours of manual environment configuration or disruptive code changes, adoption drops to zero. To ensure immediate developer buy-in, we needed to design a drop-in installation experience that integrates seamlessly with existing command-line interfaces and Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks, keeping the setup process direct, linear, and predictable.


The onboarding flow is designed around a clean, code-first layout that honors existing engineering mental models. On the setup screen, the interface displays clean terminal command guides alongside interactive tabs for Node.js, Python, and Golang CDK integrations. To handle setup edge cases safely, I mapped out clear system alerts for missing API credentials alongside a protective confirmation modal for key regeneration. By eliminating multi-step configuration forms and replacing them with a fast, responsive deployment feedback loop, we designed a technical setup that feels less like an administrative chore and more like a satisfying, instantaneous engineering win.

For engineering teams running AWS Lambda, setting allocations too high wastes thousands of dollars; setting them too low causes system timeouts and critical outages. Optimeist was founded to solve this dilemma with background automation. The primary UX challenge was establishing immediate, unshakeable trust in an automated system that modifies live production code.


To solve this trust deficit, the console layout is structured to prove its own math. When a user first lands on the active dashboard, the primary chart prioritizes a clear, seven-day historical proof-of-value curve, visualizing direct cost reduction trends. Below the chart, a high-density tabular directory lists every active Lambda function alongside its average execution duration, memory usage, and real-time capital savings. By presenting clear, verifiable data showing how much capital the background system has saved without introducing a single millisecond of application latency, we turn skeptical cloud engineers into confident platform advocates.
